I just recently found out The Giver, by Lois Lowry, is slated to become a movie, so I figured I would start the first thread on the topic...

Who should be in it?
How will the film end?
Should they film in Black and White?

I hadn't heard of The Giver before, but I went to look at the Amazon synopsis, and it sounded interesting. I might have to try it sometime.

So I can't really answer any of your questions...

Yeah for folks my age (24), it was a pretty standard junior high required reading title. One of the few force fed books that we all ended up liking,....so I (along with many others, I presume) am really pumped about seeing this one.

Being homeschooled, I've never had a whole lot of "force-fed" reading, though I've done my share of reading the "classics," and I'd often tend to do them in the summer during the library's summer reading program. I particularly enjoyed writing a comparative review of The Phantom of the Opera and the 2004 movie, which I really liked.

Ah...well, I would defineitely recommend checking out the Giver....there is a sort of unofficial sequel (with a lot of allusions) by the author Lois Lowry, called The Messenger.
