Smallville Confirmed for 10th Season

Smallville, the modern television retelling of the Superman story, has been officially renewed by The CW for a tenth season.

Erica Durance told TVGuide.com that her contract ran through Season 10. Justin Hartley also said he would return if the show wants him back and Cassidy Freeman said that her contract runs three years, meaning she could be included in next season. A rep for the show would only confirm that Tom Welling is set to return.

The show is currently in a brief re-run phase over this month, and will return April 2nd for the remainder of the 9th season.

BBC’s “Merlin” Coming to NBC This Summer

The BBC’s Merlin series, which follows the story of a young Merlin under the rule of king Uther Pendragon, will be airing in the United States on NBC starting June 21, 2009 (Sunday night).

Oft-described as the United Kingdom’s Smallville, the program has gained quite a following during its first season.

The show is set in Camelot, where Merlin meets Uther’s son Arthur, who is about the same age. (Other characters, such as Morgana and Guinivere are part of the story as well.) Merlin must prevent mishap after mishap while subtly preparing Arthur to be the prophesied king…all without revealing his powers to Camelot, with its ban on all things magic.

A new website, MerlinSite.com, run by the same group behind the leading Smallville fan site, will cover all the news about the show. We will tip you off here of anything major, if it comes to our attention.

Smallville Returns September 18

Season 8 of Smallville will begin on September 18, 2008. The first episode, Odyssey, will continue not long after the dramatic ending in season 7′s final epsidode, Arctic. Following the destruction of the Fortress, Clark and Lex are missing in the Arctic, Clark without powers again for some reason, and the Justice League goes to find them. Seeing as Michael Rosenbaum is not contracted to be a regular for the season, it is widely assumed that they find Clark but not Lex.

For those not in the know, Smallville is the current Superman TV show. The show, airing on The CW, accounts for Clark Kent’s life before donning the cape and tights. So far the show has been very good, with great special effects, interesting story, good characters. Smallville has been running has been running since 2001, and is easily my favorite TV show.
