Douglas Adams’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series is growing to include a sixth book, despite the author’s death a few years ago. The hilarious, and slightly odd, series will be continued by Artemis Fowl author Eoin Colfer.

Colfer, who has been a fan of Hitchhiker since his schooldays, said being given the opportunity to continue the series was “like suddenly being offered the superpower of your choice”. “For years I have been finishing this incredible story in my head and now I have the opportunity to do it in the real world,” he added. “It is a gift from the gods. So, thank you Thor and Odin.”

My personal pick would have been Terry Pratchett, since he has a similar style, but I think he’s more interested in writing his own books. We’ll just have to wait and see how Colfer’s work turns out.
