Scott Westerfeld said that, as of July 6, he has written 56,717 words of his upcoming book Leviathan. He says that there are about 20,000 to go.

The book, to be part one of a trilogy, is set in an alternate world, around 1914-1915. It’s a sort of fantasy/sci-fi type book featuring “living airships,” of a sort similar to Zeppelins.

I have always been a fan of Zeppelins, and have read a lot about their history, so this series, though details are sparse so far, could be interesting. If it turns out anything like Ken Oppel’s Skybreaker, it’s going to be great.
