Superior Saturday is the sixth book in the seven-part Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix. I started reading it a couple of years ago, after enjoying his higher-level Abhorsen series, in which Sabriel is the first installment.

When I read Mr. Monday, the first in the Keys series, I thought it an interesting concept; good characters, unique story, and plenty of magic. The Keys to the Kingdom books are an easy and quick read, which is generally a minus for me, save for occasions when I’m looking for lighter fare, but the story makes up for it.

In Superior Saturday, Arthur Penhaligon races to obtain the sixth key, and finally crosses over the border between being a human and being an immortal Denizen of the House.

Overall, I enjoyed Superior Saturday, and the cliffhanger ending has me anticipating the final novel, which is due out next year. (Once it’s out of the way, hopefully Nix will get back to work on the fourth Abhorsen book he’s been promising…)
